E-Tuning FAQ

What is an e-tune?

An e-tune is a custom remote ECU calibration developed for your vehicle, engine, modifications, fuel and intended use. You will install calibrations, record requested datalogs and receive revisions by email until the tuning process is completed.

Is tuning hardware included?

No. Yosh Tuned products include calibration services only.

You must already own the compatible Hondata or KTuner system, ECU hardware, laptop, cables and any required wideband equipment.

What happens after I purchase?

Complete the Vehicle Setup Form using the same email address used for your order. Yosh Tuned will review your information and create a custom starting calibration after all required details are received.

Is the starting calibration my finished tune?

No. The starting calibration begins the datalogging process. It is not the completed calibration and should only be used as instructed.

Do not perform a wide-open-throttle pull until Yosh Tuned approves it.

What datalogs will I need?

Requested logs may include:

  • Cold start and idle
  • Normal city or highway driving
  • Part-throttle operation
  • A controlled third-gear pull

The required logs depend on your vehicle and setup. Instructions will be provided during the tuning process.

How long does the process take?

Calibration emails are normally answered within 2-3 business days.

The total process depends on the vehicle’s condition, the quality and speed of returned datalogs and the number of revisions required.

Do I need a wideband?

A properly installed and configured AFR wideband is required for Hondata S300 and may be required for other modified or forced-induction applications.

Yosh Tuned will confirm the requirements for your setup.

What spark plugs should I use?

Spark-plug requirements depend on your engine, modifications, fuel, boost level and power level.

  • Stock or lightly modified naturally aspirated engines: Use the manufacturer-recommended heat range and gap unless instructed otherwise.
  • Turbocharged or supercharged engines: A colder spark plug and smaller gap are commonly required. A gap near 0.020"–0.026" works for many boosted Honda and Acura applications, but the correct specification depends on your setup.
  • Nitrous or high-compression engines: Contact Yosh Tuned for the recommended heat range and gap.

Install a matching set of clean, properly gapped plugs before datalogging. Replace plugs that are worn, fouled, damaged or have cracked ceramic.

Does my vehicle need to be mechanically ready?

Yes. Remote tuning cannot repair boost leaks, fuel-pressure problems, misfires, wiring faults, overheating, low compression or failed components.

Tuning will be paused until mechanical or electrical problems are corrected.

Do you sell standalone basemaps?

No. Yosh Tuned does not sell generic or standalone basemaps.

A custom starting calibration is included with a purchased full e-tuning service and must be followed by the required datalogging and revision process.

When should I purchase a Re-Tune?

Purchase a Re-Tune only if Yosh Tuned previously completed your tune and you have changed something that affects the calibration, including:

  • Injectors or fuel pressure
  • Fuel type or ethanol content
  • Intake, manifold, throttle body, header or exhaust
  • Camshafts or internal engine components
  • MAP sensor or wideband configuration
  • Turbocharger, supercharger or boost level
  • Fuel-system components

Your previous order number and latest Yosh Tuned calibration are required.

I already have a tune from someone else. Is that a Re-Tune?

No. If Yosh Tuned did not complete the previous tune, purchase the appropriate full e-tuning service.

Can I change parts during the tuning process?

Contact Yosh Tuned before changing parts, fuel or boost settings. Changes made during tuning can make previous revisions invalid and may require additional calibration work.

What fuel types are supported?

Available fuel options depend on the vehicle and tuning platform. Options can include pump gasoline, E85 and flex fuel.

Select the correct option on the product page. Contact Yosh Tuned before purchasing if your fuel setup is not listed.

Should I send another email while waiting?

Keep all tuning communication in the original email thread. Avoid sending repeated follow-up messages because it makes the tuning history harder to track.

What if I am still unsure?

Submit the Vehicle Setup Form with your vehicle, engine, transmission, tuning device, fuel and complete modification list. Yosh Tuned will confirm the correct service and requirements.
